The Birth of S.C.T.T.®
Southern California Touring Tears® (affectionately referred to as S.C.T.T.®) was conceived in October 1996 while three teardrop owners were having dinner. We wanted to get together with other teardrop owners to exchange ideas, compare construction and decorating ideas, and swap stories about our travel adventures in the teardrop trailers. It was also important to have a Teardrop Gathering (a meeting or assembly sharing a common interest) with the teardrops as the main focal point; not a car or truck show with trailers tagging along. There were several things we did not want. There would be no official meetings, no by-laws, and no dues; only a name to refer to when talking about the group or for correspondence.
Since a teardrop Gathering was being held at Lake Shasta, CA each year in early May, we thought an early March Gathering in Southern California was a great idea. A location was found which satisfied the needs for a large group of small trailers, letters mailed out, an d the 1st Annual Gathering was born!
Now, over 12 years later, S.C.T.T. is still going strong. The enthusiasm for teardropping and teardrop trailers is huge and growing. Our mailing list continues to increase with people who own a teardrop or ones who want all the details. S.C.T.T. is looking forward to many more years of visiting with new and long-time teardroppers and many more Gatherings. Hope to see you along the way.
